Before we start to install any fire stopping materials, the construction site is visited to determine the make-up of the wall, ceiling, or floor being treated. We consult the applicable spec sheets, state and local codes for the suggested system. We then consult with the firestopping manufacturer for their recommendations as to which of their products comply. We then expertly install the correct system, designed to be up to - and beyond - what is needed. Properly choosing the correct firestopping devices and methods is determined on a case-by-case decision and can be a daunting task. There are many choices available from foams and caulks, to pillows and pre-made sleeves. Always required in hospitals and public schools, firestopping is often warranted at many other locations. When driven by federal or state regulations and architectural specifications, the devices and methods are spelled out. When requested by the owner, the correct installation practices must be derived by DataCom.
